ABOUT THE ARTIST

Donna Fay Allen is a northern California photographer whose work has received a number of awards and honors. It was accepted into the 73rd Crocker-Kingsley Exhibition in 2002; juried into the California Fine Arts Competition in 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004 receiving three Awards of Merit and two Awards of Excellence; received a First Place Color Photography award from the Roseville Arts Center in 1999; and juried into the KVIE Art Auction in 2003, 2004 and 2005. She has exhibited her photographs at numerous galleries and museums and has been published in Pinhole Journal and celebrated on an episode of KVIE televisions' "California Chronicles".
The diversity of techniques and materials which can be explored has made photography the medium she chooses for creating fine art images. Black and white silver gelatin prints can be altered and enhanced through toning, tinting and application of color. Polaroid SX-70 manipulations, image and emulsion transfers allow a more intimate relationship between the artist, image and materials. And constructing and using pinhole cameras allows the photographer to be involved in every aspect of image creation.
